“The future of humanity lies in the hands of those strong enough to show future generations a reason for hoping and living.”- Bob Mitchell, campaigner kid of Jim Rayburn, founder of Young Life
Tonight, I had the opportunity to hear Bob Mitchell speak.
I am at Young Life's New Staff training in Colorado at Crooked Creek Ranch with 170 other new staff from across the nation and international. We are here for ministry training. This is made possible by the supporters that have investing in the partnership with me in the mission of Young Life. I am here for 2 weeks and have been here for 2 days. Thank you! Thank you for supporting me as I continue to grow in being proactive about my faith, my calling to love high school kids through the avenue of Young Life, train to fully engage in my job and strive to be a part of this mission for life.
A few tidbits for you from Bob...
Club #37.
Jim wasn't dishonest. He didn't claim that he had 36 other before. He just called the first YL club #37. Kids at Loudon ask me why we start club at 7:57? It goes all the way back to the uniqueness of Jim Rayburn and his #37 club.
1 Corinthians 5:14… “The love of Christ constrains me.” Constrains- controls, motivates, drives me. The driving force of YL was Jesus. “I loved him because he first loved me!” Bob speaking about Jim Rayburn. “Fear not for thou are with thee, will not forsake thee.”
My prayer is that Christ constrains me! Christ constrains you! Christ begins to constrain my high school friends!
Much more to come!
